...your child loves green spaghetti, but will turn up her cute little nose at "red" spaghetti.
...you've become intimately acquainted with both Lily friends and Leah friends, and it's not uncommon to have visits from the Leah friend, Canola, or the Lily friends, Mago, or Mossey.
...you've had to pray for the Lily friends or Leah friends because they're very sick.
...and you've had to run interference when your older daughter gets sick of hearing about her twins sisters' imaginary friends!
...you've ever had Eve (as in Adam's other half) trade places with your daughter, Leah, and spend time in your home, while Leah is in the Garden with Adam.
...you've had to clean up syrup emergencies, as your 7 y/o would refer to it (and all because your 5 y/o attempted to pour her own syrup while you were upstairs grabbing another load of laundry to throw in the washing machine. So much for multi-tasking!).
...you come downstairs after a moment in the bathroom to discover your twin 3 year-olds have finger painted your white carpet with gel food coloring!
...you've given and received numerous varieties of kisses, including but not limited to: hard kisses, soft kisses, butterfly kisses, penguin kisses, princess kisses, eskimo kisses, lion kisses, and I could go on....
...your 7 y/o still hides under the table when you're out at Red Robin whenever Red (the bird in costume) happens to be there.
...you have to assure your children, every time you go into a store, that no one is dressed up in a costume there.
...you announce you're making mac-n-cheese for lunch, and your children cheer like you've just announced a vacation to Disney!
...you've started calling quesadillas Mexican Pizzas, so your oldest daughter will actually eat them. You refer to the refried beans as the "sauce" for the same reason.
...you think you still remember how to suction a trach and perform a trach change.
...you remember a few times where you had to use your little finger to plug up your daughter's g-tube stoma preventing stomach contents from spewing all over while you attempted to replace the tube.
...you're nearly in tears when the dryer repair guys leaves, after telling you there is nothing wrong with your dryer, even though it takes no less than 3 and as many as 7 hours to dry one load of clothes (supposedly the builders put in a shoddy venting system)!
...you've ever felt like Children's Hospital is your second home, and going back there is like a reunion with all of your many nurse and doctor friends.
...you know that Harlequin Syndrome is not an obsession with Harlequin romance novels, and you don't freak when your daughter experiences it.
...your children still have no idea what a McDonald's is.
...your daughters start planning their next birthday cakes a year in advance!
...you've ever been holding one of your twins on your lap, only to have them switch on you, and you don't even realize it until several minutes later, when it dawns on you that you've been referring to Lily as Leah for quite awhile. What's even worse is that you were looking at baby pictures of them at the time, and for who knows how long when Lily would ask if that was a picture of herself, you replied, "No honey, that's your sister."
...you think you might be confused even trying to explain this!
And, finally, you might be a parent to "My 3 Princesses" if...the bottom of one of your "formerly white" couch cushions has a black Sharpie smiley face on it!

WOW. I remember when the food coloring happened. The sharpie one that's icing on the cake.
Too funny about the sauce and being quesdilla being mexican pizza. That's a good idea.
Hey--
Just wanted to say thanks for adding my button to your blog! Aren't twins the greatest? There is just something so magical about them. We have loved it and would do it again! But it sounds like one of your twinnies had kindof a rough start in life--ugh...I can't even imagine! Glad she is well now!

We are vegetarian (all except my husband), so the girls have never been to McD's. When Elise was about 3, we went into a store that had a McD's in it. She saw the golden arches on the outside of the building and announced, "Look Mommy! Bananas!!" Plus, I'm not much for commercials with TV, so we usually mute or FF through them, if they are watching something other than what's on PBS (which isn't very often because we don't have "real" cable, meaning more than just the basic networks). I'm sure, at some point, they'll be enlightened to the whole McDonald's thing, but for now, I'm happy to keep them in the dark. :-)
